Stanton IP Law Firm - Synapse Orlando - Tampa - Intellectual Property Law

Last Friday, we attended Synapse Orlando 2021. Synapse Orlando is the annual gathering for all of the doers, creators, innovators, thought leaders making Orlando one of the world’s fastest growing innovation communities and hottest destinations to live, work and play.

We met with industry leaders and innovators from all over Florida for a fun-filled weekend of work and play.

We got a chance to chat with the Orlando chapter of Gra-V Robotics about their latest innovations and plans to disrupt the tech sector with their inventions.

Gra-V Robotics is a team of high school students mainly from Orange County, Florida who compete in FIRST Robotics Competition every year. The team is mentored by numerous professionals in Science, Technology, Math, and Engineering fields, and various other fields. FIRST Robotics Competition teaches students to brainstorm, design, program, build, and test a fully-functional robot within six weeks, in order to compete against other teams internationally.

The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Gra-V was founded in 2015 by Orange Technical College – Mid Florida Campus. At the very first meeting, three students showed up. Since then the team has jumped from 10 students, to 17 students, to now over 30 students and counting. Gra-V conducts team meetings, industry presentations, & many community outreach events throughout the year, including mentoring other robotics teams and volunteering at STEM competitions. The team showcases at various major technology expos hosted throughout Central Florida each year, in order to spread the word of FIRST and STEM education.
